Shadow Work is the process of exploring the hidden or unconscious aspects of ourselves, often referred to as the "shadow." These are parts of our personality and psyche that we may have repressed, denied, or ignored because they are perceived to be undesirable or they feel uncomfortable. These shadow aspects can include negative emotions, past traumas, unresolved conflicts, and unacknowledged fears.

The goal of Shadow Work is to bring these hidden aspects into the light of conscious awareness. By doing so, we can better understand and integrate them, leading to greater self-awareness, emotional healing, and personal growth. This process involves self-reflection, introspection, and a willingness to confront and accept all parts of ourselves, including those we might find challenging or painful.

THE MEDICINE IS IN THE POISON

Engaging in Shadow Work can help us:

  • Recognise and heal past wounds

  • Improve our relationships by understanding our triggers and reactions

  • Develop greater empathy and compassion for ourselves and others

  • Unlock hidden potentials and strengths

  • Achieve a more balanced and authentic sense of self

By integrating our shadow, we can transform it into a source of wisdom and power, allowing us to live more fully and authentically. Often the greatest gifts that we can offer to the world are hidden in our wounds.

WhAT IS SHADOW WORK?

"A feeling of aversion or attachment toward something is your clue that there's work to be done."

Shadow Work is a journey, as we walk the path of self-discovery and self-healing more and deeper layers are revealed. Practice compassion and non-judgement as you explore, and know that you are not alone on this path.

It is important to be mindful of balance, just as we may bypass the shadow by only focusing on the light, we can also experience tunnel vision - only looking at our shadow, and distracting ourselves in the perpetual process of looking for the weeds!

Our inner healing journeys are a contribution to the greater ’whole’, the shifts we make within ripple out to those around us. But we don’t have to do ALL the ’work’ ourselves, we are a collective, part of the expanding and contracting consciousness.

So - it’s okay to take a break :)
