What is Integral Sound Healing?
Integral Sound Healing works with Sound and Vibration as part of a holistic approach to health and wellness. Using the power of Sound in unison with loving intention we work with attuning the five elements of the whole being; physical, emotional, mental, soul, and spiritual.
Through the integration of a variety of Sound Healing Tools, including but not limited to; Tibetan Bowls, Crystal Singing Bowls, Tuning Forks, Shamanic Drums, Rattles, Gongs, Chimes, Rain Sticks, and Tingsha, we can provide a broad spectrum of Vibrational Medicine.
The Integral Sound Healing modality requires that we hold our capacity to facilitate healing with gentleness, gratitude, and grace. Recognising that we are creating a healing space within which the recipients can heal themselves.
Integral Sound Healing is a realm in which we connect to our intuition, are open to receiving guidance, and work respectfully with ancient wisdom and the integration of modern science. The intention is that in embracing mysticism and the unknown, and through channelling unconditional love, we can be of service for the highest good of all those we work with.
VIBRATORY RESONANCE
How does sound affect the body, emotions, mind, soul and spirit?
Every aspect of the human body vibrates with its own distinctive frequency; every atom, cell, organ, and gland. Just as each part of the physical body has its own vibration, so do the subtle bodies of our being; the emotional, mental, and spiritual, all have their own particular rate of vibration. Each of these elements can be impacted by internal and external influences, and if altered from their natural frequencies we can experience ill health and dis-ease. However, when we are in harmony with our innate vibratory resonance we create the most favourable environment for our highest well-being and health.
It has been shown that through the use of rhythm and vibration changes occur in the autonomic nervous system, the immune system, and the endocrine system. These changes can have a major impact on our health. When an imbalanced vibration manifests within one or more levels of our being we can use the healing power of sound to re-establish the natural frequency and bring it back into its optimal state. Healing sound can help with releasing imbalanced energy, held trauma, and stuck emotions, and also it can be used to restore the chakras, and smooth the bio-field.
BRAINWAVES
What are brainwaves?
Brainwaves are the communication between the neurons in the brain, these messages translate into our actions, behaviours, thoughts, and emotions.
When the neurons communicate they send out electrical pulses, and these pulses happen at different frequencies. The spectrum of brainwave frequencies spans from slow/low to fast/high. Each of these frequencies has a different function which affects the hormonal systems, and therefore the body, mind, and emotions.
The spectrum of brainwave frequencies continuously pulses in our brain, and how we experience reality is directly affected by which of these frequencies we are in.
QUANTUM ENTANGLEMENT
In a nutshell - what is quantum entanglement?
Subatomic particles are the building blocks of all of life, and make up all ‘matter.’ These particles are infinitesimal, and they form atoms, which then combine to create molecules and bigger structures.
Quantum Mechanics, is a fundamental theory in physics that describes the behaviour of matter and energy at the subatomic level. It provides a foundation for understanding the functioning of particles such as photons, phonons, and electrons.
Quantum entanglement is an occurrence in quantum physics where two or more particles become bonded in such a way that the state of one particle is connected to the state of the other, no matter the distance between them. This correlation continues even if the particles are separated by distance, seemingly disobeying the concept of cause and effect.
When two particles become entangled, their quantum states become interconnected, meaning that the properties of one particle, such as its polarisation, become connected to the corresponding characteristics of the other particle, meaning that measuring one particle determines the state of the other.

How do healing sounds affect brainwave frequencies?
Sound healing tools can be used to affect brainwave frequencies in guiding the recipient into relaxation, release, and trance states. This is achieved through Sympathetic Resonance, Brainwave Entrainment, and Shamanic Journeying.
When we enter deep states of relaxation, we are able to process and release suppressed emotions from the physical body. The vibrations of the sound tools also enable the rebalancing of the subtle energy bodies. Additionally, when in a deeply relaxed condition the body can move out of states of chronic stress and nervous system burnout. This enables us to enter into a rest and digest state which is essential for our mental, emotional, physical, psychological, and spiritual well-being.
SUBTLE BODIES
What are the Subtle Bodies?
Subtle Bodies are non-physical aspects beyond the physical body of a living being. The subtle bodies exist alongside the physical body interacting with it on various levels or dimensions. We can understand these non-physical aspects of the Being as consciousness fields or energetic fields. These non-physical energy field emanations are not seen through our 'regular' five senses.
In spiritual practices we can develop an awareness of these subtle bodies, allowing for a deeper understanding of the self, and for the exploration of higher states of consciousness. The concept of subtle bodies offers a multi-dimensional framework through which we can gain a greater understanding of how consciousness functions and evolves.
The subtle bodies include : The Etheric Body, The Astral Body, The Mental Body, and The Causal Body.
INTENTION
Why is intention important when working with sound?
Intention gives direction and focus to our energy, setting an intention for the session helps to activate the internal focus and establishes the tone.
The energy of our intention is infused with the vibrations of the healing sounds that we produce. It is important to maintain the intention and to be mindful that our thoughts do not wander. A gentle balance needs to be found, where we embody the energy of unconditional love, whilst holding the intention of healing for the highest good for the client. In addition, we can bring in space and openness to receive any messages that may come through intuitively.
It is good to stay curious and humble and to be an open channel trusting that the recipient’s body intelligence knows what is needed, and that healing life force energy (chi / prana) will be directed for their optimal well-being.
SYMPATHETIC RESONANCE
What is Sympathetic Resonance?
Healing sounds can be used to assist in bringing a person’s fundamental vibration back into resonance. The pure tones and vibrations produced by the sound tools can re-establish an aspect that is out of balance. This is called Sympathetic Resonance, which occurs when we use a vibration that matches the area we are working with, the pure vibration will rebalance the dissonance to its optimal, natural vibratory state.

In Sound Healing, the concept of ‘The Five Elements of the Whole Being’ refers to the five aspects of our existence: physical, mental, emotional, soul, and spirit. When we bring in conscious awareness we can attune to the messages we receive through these different aspects, each of which communicates in its own language; The Physical communicates through sensations, The Emotions communicate through feelings, The Mind communicates through thoughts, The Soul communicates through images, messages, and visions, and Spirit communicates through silence, and presence.

Physical Aspect: This aspect pertains to our physical bodies, which are the tangible and visible forms we inhabit. Sound healers use specific frequencies and vibrations to address physical ailments, promote relaxation, relieve tension, and support the body's natural healing processes.
We can incorporate a daily Practice to observe the sensations of our bodies, with curiosity. We may start noticing specific physical responses in stressful or emotionally triggering situations. Likewise, we might become aware of discomfort in certain areas of the body when contemplating tasks or situations we prefer to avoid. By cultivating a greater awareness of our bodily sensations, we gain valuable insight into how our thoughts and emotions impact our physical well-being.
As with all our practices, it is important to explore without judgment and be mindful of any self-criticism or blame that arises. When we encounter such obstacles, they can slow down our progress, but they also present an opportunity to delve deeper into the shadow aspects of ourselves.

Emotional Aspect: The emotional aspect involves our feelings, emotions, and energetic responses to various experiences. Sound healing acknowledges the profound influence of sound on our emotional states. Different sounds and frequencies can evoke specific emotional responses. Through intentional soundscapes, sound healers aim to promote emotional balance, release emotional blockages, foster emotional intelligence, and facilitate emotional healing and growth.
Let's consider the idea of 'stuck emotions'. You may have a memory of a felt sense that relates to this notion of a trapped emotion. To better understand this concept, let's remind ourselves of the theory that all life is composed of vibrating quantum particles. This theory suggests that the vibrational nature of particles extends beyond the physical realm, potentially influencing consciousness, perception, and higher-level cognitive processes. If we accept that emotions possess different vibratory states, we can begin to conceptualise how an emotion may become 'stuck' in our 'Emotional Body' or 'Astral Body'.
We will explore the Subtle Bodies and Emotions more in-depth at another time. For now, let's visualise how a 'negative' emotion, such as jealousy, vibrates at a different frequency than a 'positive' emotion, like gratitude. Let's assume that jealousy vibrates at a rate that is out of alignment with the body's optimal state of wellness. In this case, we can imagine how jealousy may become stuck due to its denser, lower vibration. When employing sound healing techniques, we utilise intention and sound frequencies to shift these 'stuck emotions' by breaking up the densely concentrated vibrations and reintroducing harmonious ones.

Mental Aspect: The mental aspect encompasses our thoughts, beliefs, and cognitive processes. Sound Healing acknowledges the profound influence of sound on our mental well-being. Specific sounds and vibrations can effectively calm the mind, enhance focus and concentration, alleviate stress and anxiety, and promote mental clarity and balance. Sound Healers work with particular tones or rhythms to harmonise and synchronise the mental aspect of our being.
Have you ever contemplated your relationship with your mind? Perhaps there have been moments when you felt powerless, carried away by the relentless current of your own thoughts. Many of us have been raised to prioritise the mind over emotions, putting intellect on a pedestal. This tendency leads us to identify with our thoughts, mistakenly believing that 'I am the voice in my head.' Such a belief can lead us into dark and tumultuous waters.
At this juncture, one path diverges, leading to profound questions: What is the nature of the mind? What is the Egoic mind? What is the subconscious mind? What is consciousness? These inquiries will resurface along our non-linear journey through the fractal of our Unified Field Notes. For now, let us acknowledge one fundamental truth: You are not defined by your thoughts.
Now, let us briefly explore another avenue: Meditation and the Practice of becoming the Observer. Through meditation, we cultivate the ability to observe our thoughts rather than being consumed by them. This practice involves developing an awareness that allows us to witness thoughts objectively as they arise and dissipate, without becoming entangled in their content or swept away by them. We assume the position of a spectator on the riverbank, watching the stream of thoughts flow by without succumbing to the temptation of immersion or being carried away.

Soul Aspect: The soul aspect refers to the essence of who we are beyond the physical realm. The soul encompasses our individuality and sense of self, our purpose, and our relationship with something greater than ourselves. Sound Healing acknowledges the power of sound and vibration to awaken our inner wisdom, facilitate spiritual growth, and bring about transformation. By using sacred sounds, chants, or mantras, Sound Healers aim to reconnect individuals with their soul aspect, nurture their spiritual journey, and promote a sense of purpose and alignment.
To contemplate the Soul, we can begin by embracing the idea that all of life is interconnected, and that each individual soul is an expression of Consciousness. Consciousness may be referred to as Source, Creator, God, Divine Consciousness, or any chosen term; the fundamental concept remains the same: there is a unified whole, and we are all integral parts of its ever-expanding nature.
Within this tapestry of life, every individual consciousness, or soul, plays an important role. Each soul carries its own unique lessons, talents, and challenges, all intended to contribute to the collective expansion of Consciousness. As souls journey through different lifetimes, they accumulate wisdom, acquire valuable insights, and refine their understanding of love, compassion, and interconnectedness.
Throughout life, it is highly likely that we will endure hardships and encounter experiences that lead to the fragmentation of our souls. We may carry the karmic burdens from past lives, and inherit ancestral wounds. These fragmented aspects contribute to a pervasive sense of loss, lack, or incompleteness. The journey towards healing involves reclaiming the missing pieces of our souls, a process that can be approached through various means. In Shamanic Practices, this transformative process is known as Soul Retrieval.

What is self-healing?
Self-healing, in my experience, is a journey of personal development and soul growth. It's not a quick fix, especially not when we start out, and it's not a daily pill (or handful) prescribed by someone else. Stepping into self-healing necessitates a shift; it calls for us to view our health holistically, to embrace ourselves as (co)creator beings, and to identify where we give our power away. It invites us to examine our limiting beliefs, our attachments to old stories, and where we may be trapped in our victim archetype.

What is cymatics?
Cymatics is a field of study that explores the relationship between sound and physical vibrations, demonstrating how sound vibrations can create intricate geometric patterns and shapes. This is achieved by placing substances such as water, or sand on a vibrating plate and subjecting them to different frequencies, resulting in the emergence of patterns. The term "cymatics" was coined by Swiss scientist Hans Jenny in the 1960s, derived from the Greek word "kyma," meaning wave.
The relevance of cymatics to sound healing is rooted in the understanding that sound vibrations have a direct influence on matter and the human body. Sound healing is an ancient practice that harnesses the therapeutic properties of sound to promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Working with accountability is a powerful catalyst for personal development, and it profoundly affects how we show up in the world for ourselves and other people. Accountability involves taking responsibility for our actions, decisions, and commitments.

BEING THE OBSERVER
What is meant by ‘Being the Observer’?
The concept of "being the observer" is a key element of mindfulness and is also referred to as "mindful awareness" or "witness consciousness." It involves us taking a step back from our thoughts, emotions, and experiences in order to observe them from a more objective and non-judgmental perspective.
Being the observer allows us to become more aware of our thoughts, emotions, and behaviours without instinctively reacting to them. As previously discussed, self-awareness is a fundamental tool on our path of self-growth as it helps us in understanding our automatic reactions and habitual patterns. By shifting into ‘witness consciousness’ we begin to make more deliberate and considered choices which often has the bonus effect of improving our relationships.
When we practice being the observer, we can gain better control over our emotions. Rather than being tossed about in the whirlwind of reactivity and impulsivity, we can acknowledge and name our emotions, and then choose how to respond to them in a constructive way. This emotional regulation can result in reduced stress and an enhanced sense of overall well-being.
BRAINWAVE ENTRAINMENT
What is Brainwave Entrainment?
Brainwave Entrainment describes the electrical response of the brain when rhythmically stimulated through the senses. When the brain is exposed to a repeating stimulus it produces synchronised electrical cycles of the same rhythm in response. Brainwave Entrainment can be stimulated by pulsating light and through rhythmic sounds and vibrations. Using healing sounds can induce this, through which states of deep relaxation can be reached.
DEEP RELAXATION
Why is deep relaxation beneficial?
Deep relaxation allows us to process and release suppressed emotions that impact the physical and subtle bodies. By shifting this ‘stuck’ energy we improve vitality and overall well-being. The use of sound tools helps rebalance our subtle energy bodies, which has a direct effect on the structure of our energetic field. Additionally, deep relaxation facilitates the body’s transition from states of chronic stress and nervous system exhaustion to a more rejuvenating ‘rest and digest’ state. This state is crucial for our mental, emotional, physical, psychological, and spiritual well-being.
SCHUMANN RESONANCE
What is the Schumann resonance?
The Schumann resonance refers to a set of electromagnetic frequencies that exist within the Earth's atmosphere-ionosphere cavity. It is generated by natural processes, predominantly lightning discharges, and functions as a worldwide electromagnetic background signal.
The primary frequency of the Schumann resonance is approximately 7.83 hertz (Hz), although there are also higher harmonics present, such as 14.1 Hz, 20.3 Hz, 27.3 Hz, and 33.8 Hz. These frequencies correspond to the resonant frequencies of the Earth-ionosphere cavity and are influenced by various factors, including the Earth's magnetic field, lightning discharges, and global atmospheric conditions.
The ionosphere plays a crucial role in radio wave propagation and communication. It reflects and refracts radio waves, enabling long-distance communication by bouncing the waves off the ionised layers. It is also involved in the phenomenon of auroras, also known as the Northern and Southern Lights.
The Schumann resonance is not only a captivating natural phenomenon but also holds implications for biological systems, including humans. Some researchers propose that the human brain and body have evolved in synchronisation with the Earth's electromagnetic field, and the Schumann resonance may play a role in regulating various physiological processes, impacting the brain and the nervous system.
There is research into Magnetic Field Deficiency Syndrome, which posits that when we experience a decreased connection to the Earth’s magnetic field we may experience physical symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, and fatigue.
There are certain theories suggesting that the Schumann Resonance can be influenced by and influence human consciousness. Accordingly, as per this theory, a worldwide increase in anxiety or tension would also impact the Schumann Resonance.
HUMAN ENERGY FIELD
How is The Human Energy Field relevant in Sound Healing?
The Human Energy Field, commonly referred to as the aura, is a concept rooted in spiritual and metaphysical traditions. This subtle energy field surrounds and permeates the physical human body. Comprising of several layers or levels, each associated with specific facets of an individual's physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being, these layers interact and mutually influence one another, forming a dynamic and interconnected system.
Several traditions describe the human energy field in terms of chakras, which are energy centers aligned along the spine. Each chakra corresponds to specific organs, emotions, and aspects of consciousness. The free flow of energy through these chakras is considered to be vital for sustaining balance and health.
Practices such as Reiki, acupuncture, and diverse forms of energy healing are grounded in the notion of manipulating or harmonising the energy flow within the human energy field. This principle is also true with Sound Therapies, where sound is believed to possess the capacity to influence vibrational frequencies within the body and the energy field, potentially bringing balance, relaxation, and overall well-being.

Why responsibility?
An essential milestone on the path of personal development involves taking responsibility for our lives. This responsibility encompasses both our actions and our emotions. Depending on the coping mechanisms we've developed in response to our individual childhood experiences, we may have learned to shift blame away from ourselves, adopt a victim mentality, resort to dishonesty, or manipulate others with our emotional responses. We develop many tools as a means of survival.
As we examine the behavioural patterns that might negatively affect our lives, it's crucial to engage in the practices of observation and analysis. This entails identifying what triggers our habitual reactions and recognising when we project our own wounds onto others.
Learning to differentiate between what is our own and what isn't allows us to navigate situations more effectively. It ensures that we don't take on the emotional baggage of others. Life presents scenarios for us to learn about ourselves, our lineage, and our relationships. When we take responsibility for engaging in the process of examining our lives, we can make significant shifts towards unmasking the versions of ourselves that have been hidden behind trauma responses and coping strategies.

The skill of viewing situations from multiple perspectives is incredibly valuable. It enables us to deepen our understanding of others and fosters empathy. This practice can lead us toward more profound spiritual insights, highlighting our interconnectedness and the illusion of separateness as a catalyst for soul growth.

BRAINWAVE FREQUENCIES
What are Brainwave Frequencies?
Brainwave frequencies are the different patterns of electrical activity that the brain produces. These occur at various frequencies and are linked to varied consciousness states, mental states, and cognitive processes.
The different brainwave frequencies range from low/slow to high/fast and are associated with everything from unconsciousness, trance states, relaxation, focus, creativity, intuition, alertness, anxiety, and hyper-vigilance.
The exact frequencies of these states can be different in different people, as can the intensity at which they are experienced. However, there are common ranges within the brainwave frequencies, known as Delta Waves, Theta Waves, Alpha Waves, Beta Waves, and Gamma Waves, these are measured in hertz.
Hertz (Hz) is a measurement of frequency.
Frequency is the number of occurrences of a repeating event per unit of time.
One Hz is equal to one event per second.

What are vibroacoustics in Sound Healing?
Vibroacoustics explores the relationship between sound and vibration, recognising that sound is not only an auditory experience but also a tactile one. Vibroacoustics in sound healing refers to the physical sensations and vibrations that sound produces within our bodies.
When sound waves enter our bodies, they create subtle vibrations that can permeate our cells, tissues, and organs. These vibrations can have a profound impact on our physical well-being by helping to release tension, stimulate circulation, and promote overall relaxation. By carefully applying specific frequencies and vibrations, sound can create a harmonious resonance within the body, supporting its natural healing processes.

What are photons and phonons?
Photons are elementary particles, they represent the basic unit of light and electromagnetic radiation. They travel at the speed of light and carry energy in the form of electromagnetic waves.
Phonons are quasiparticles, they carry information about the frequency, wavelength, and energy of the lattice vibrations in a solid.
At a subatomic level, photons emanate from the cells, tissues, bones, etc. of the body as light emissions (the energy field) into the surrounding area. Equally, the phonons, at a subatomic level, emanate sound wave information out into the surrounding environment.
We have the phonon electromagnetic light energy-based waves as well as the phonon sound waves that are being emitted.

ACCEPTANCE
What do we mean by Acceptance on a self-healing path?
Acceptance of reality involves acknowledging the current state of affairs, both internally and externally, and it plays a vital role in our journey of self-healing. Before we can begin to bring about positive and lasting changes in our lives, it is essential to embrace the present moment as it is, even if it doesn't entirely align with our desires.
The art lies in cultivating acceptance from a place of neutrality, without judgment or denial. This is the first step toward making meaningful change. Denial or resistance to reality can lead to stress, anxiety, and emotional turmoil.
By letting go of self-judgment and becoming our own cheerleader, we build a strong foundation for taking new steps. What does it mean to be Self-Aware?

This self-awareness is a vital c puzzle piece as we walk the path of personal growth and self-development.
Being self-aware empowers us to form a more realistic perception of our abilities and limitations. It also grants us the ability to recognise when we are triggered and to have a conscious understanding of the underlying causes of our emotional responses. This profound understanding paves the way for us to develop robust self-esteem and self-confidence, allowing us to work on the areas we wish to heal and improve without feeling inadequate or overwhelmed.
When making efforts to enhance our self-awareness, it's important to avoid becoming fixated on the idea of eliminating all our perceived flaws. PERCEPTION
What shapes our perception?
Our perception of ourselves and the world is shaped by a dynamic interplay of internal and external factors. Life experiences, both the positive and negative, contribute significantly to our perception. The way in which we interpret and learn the lessons from these experiences profoundly impacts our personal growth. Reflecting on past experiences not only reveals valuable insights but also enables us to see these encounters through alternative lenses and from the perspectives of others.
Our beliefs and values may be quite entrenched and can deeply influence how we view the world, and how we interact with it. Taking time to introspect, helps in identifying instances where our conclusions or preconceived notions are influenced by our beliefs. BRAIN HEMISPHERES
What does it mean to balance the hemispheres of the brain, with sound therapy?
In Sound Therapy, it is believed that the application of specific sound frequencies and patterns can yield therapeutic benefits for the brain's functioning. These include the capacity to promote relaxation, enhance cognitive faculties, and potentially harmonise the activity of the brain's left and right hemispheres. Delta brainwaves, which oscillate at frequencies between 0.1 and 4 Hz, are associated with the deep sleep states, specifically non-REM dreamless sleep when we are unconscious and devoid of physical awareness. THETA BRAINWAVES
What is the Theta state?
THETA / 4 - 7 hz
Theta brainwaves are associated with drowsy sleep, during which we maintain conscious awareness of our environment. When in the theta state, individuals often experience a profound sense of peacefulness and calm, similar to what is achieved during deep meditation. These low-frequency brainwaves are conducive to promoting sleep, deep relaxation, emotional processing, and are considered highly conducive to hypnosis, accelerated learning, and mental programming. Theta waves are also closely linked to extra sensory perception, intuition, creativity, and the access of clairsenses. They are the dominant brainwave state during REM sleep (when dream recall is more likely), out-of-body and lucid dream experiences, as well as trance states. Theta is where suppressed memories and emotions are most readily accessed and released. BETA BRAINWAVES
What is the Beta state?
BETA / 12 - 24.9 hz
Beta brainwaves are associated with full alertness, external awareness, and the rapid generation of thoughts. Beta is the predominant brainwave state in our day-to-day lives and can be divided into two frequencies: low/slow Beta 1 (15 - 20 Hz) and high/fast Beta 2 (20 - 25 Hz). Beta 1 is linked to qualities such as focus, concentration, and a sense of inner calm in both the physical body and the mind, and it is essential for healthy sleep. Conversely, Beta 2 is the frequency associated with overactive mental states, characterised by inner chatter that can disrupt sound sleep. It is in the Beta 2 state that we experience hyper-arousal, anxiety, and stress. Prolonged periods of being in Beta 2 can lead to hyper-vigilance and paranoia, resulting in exhaustion, burnout, and the potential development of chronic stress, all of which can lead to ill health and dis-ease in the body.
GAMMA BRAINWAVES
What is the Gamma state?
GAMMA / 25 – 100 Hz
Gamma brainwaves are closely associated with expanded consciousness and spiritual development, and they may play a fundamental role in the very essence of consciousness itself. This frequency range is believed to be highly active during states of altruism and universal love. When in a Gamma state, individuals often experience enhanced mental functioning, improved problem-solving abilities, and heightened self-awareness and self-control. The absence of regular Gamma activity can lead to symptoms such as depression, lack of focus, increased stress levels, and compulsive thinking.
